Six Sigma and Lean methodologies
by: Arpita Dey

Absolutely, Six Sigma and Lean methodologies are designed to eliminate defects and enhance efficiency. Six Sigma employs a structured approach, focusing on statistical analysis to identify and eliminate variations causing defects. Lean principles aim to streamline processes, minimizing waste and errors. Together, Six Sigma and Lean provide a powerful framework for continuous improvement, helping organizations achieve defect reduction, higher quality, and increased customer satisfaction.

Its a package

I do not think 6 Sigma, TPS or Lean implementation can solve all the problems individually. But used as a system they can make drastic improvements to an organization. However, this takes a great deal of time, dedication and effort to implement and execute this system properly. This can really transform an organization but the organization must have clear goals for the system

as simple as it gets
by: RMS

In my opinion quality control should not interfere with value added activities and most important should not increase cost of service. Take Dabbawala for example; in 1998, Forbes Magazine found its reliability to be that of a six sigma standard. This food delivery service is admirable being able to control at high performance with very low tech and low budget. Dabbawalas service has a great room for mistake, although committed to quality each member of the organization contributes to make less than one mistake in every 6 million deliveries. Once all members of an organization are delivering and committed to quality as a result the organization becomes a well oiled machinery error proofing itself in every stage.
